Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) provider Scape is offering one lucky school leaver the opportunity for Scape (and Kogan) to cover the cost of 12 months’ accommodation at one Scape property. Three others will win a $5,000 Kogan voucher to decorate their post-high school digs.
Scape has partnered with Kogan to launch a new initiative called Scape: Live & Learn. This scholarship program is specifically designed to support young Australian students who are transitioning from Year 12 into university STEM degree programs.
Scape: Live & Learn aims to empower students by providing them with opportunities to earn while they learn. This includes access to safe and relevant work experiences that will help them gain practical skills and build valuable networks.
By offering this support, Scape hopes to set these young individuals up for future success and give them a head start on their careers, while also covering the cost for one student for 12 months’ accommodation at one Scape property.
Creating a safe and inclusive PSBA experience
Scape CEO Anouk Darling says Scape Student Living is “more than just accommodation”.
“We are dedicated to creating safe, inclusive and supportive communities with a unique residential life program designed to ensure our residents are engaged socially, motivated in their studies and inspired for life after tertiary education,” she says, adding that “each resident is a unique individual and can expect an environment that has clear, reasonable and effective practices, and that aligns with the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations”.
Additionally, Darling says, Scape provides a number of support programs and initiatives to ensure a smooth transition for students entering PBSA for the first time.
“Every Scape resident has 24/7 support. From O-Week welcome activities to regular social events, a 24/7 Scape Safe Hub initiative to provide around-the-clock security and regular check-ins, particularly with first year residents.
“Scape is committed to ensuring that those entering PBSA for the first time feel comfortable, supported and safe.”
Darling says that level of support is vital “because leaving home for the first time is a big deal!”
“Some students can feel home sick, isolated, suffer social anxiety so find it hard to make friends,” she says.
“There is a lot for them to contend with as well, for instance, managing money for the first time, combining work with the pressure of their course loads, handling sexual relationships and new friendships. It’s a huge step for them and we want to set them
up for success.”
