The nib Newcastle Knights – a professional Australian rugby league team based in regional Newcastle, New South Wales – has confirmed the Clontarf Academy as their January Charity of the Month.
The announcement shines a light on the work the organisation does to educate and empower young Indigenous men.
Through mentoring, fostering important life skills and education, the Clontarf Academy helps provide the tools and support these young men need to build better futures for themselves.
The Knights’ involvement is part of the club’s broader commitment to create positive change impact in its community, with initiatives like the ClubGRANTS program enabling meaningful contributions to organisations like Clontarf Academy.
The financial support has enabled Clontarf’s program to grow and become stronger in recent years – with community-focused benefits that Knights forward Adam Elliott saw firsthand when he visited its operations at Toronto High School.
“It’s inspiring to see the dedication and hard work these young men put into their development,” says Elliott.
“The work the Foundation does is incredible and provides stability for Indigenous youth.”
Director of the Toronto Clontarf Academy Brendon Heape says, “having the Newcastle Knights involved is a huge boost for our boys”.
“It’s not just about the financial support, it’s about showing them that the community values and believes in them. That’s incredibly powerful.”
