Sharon Grocott, CEO of WayAhead, talks with EducationDaily editor Claire Halliday about the importance of mental health awareness.

Sharon discusses resources designed to help educators in working with children on how WayAhead’s services can be effectively used in classrooms.

I think part of what I like about the game is the fact that it is a game. Kids really like fun. And I think being able to use a game in the classroom to guide discussion and have really practical scenarios around emotions… it makes it easy to use in a classroom. I also think the fact that with the game … the kids can explore other ideas so it can create things like journaling or drawing … it sparks children to look at other scenarios that help them to cope with emotional regulation … it’s actually linked to the curriculum as well, so it links to the New South Wales PDHPE syllabus, but also the general capabilities framework so that teachers can then map it.
