Primary school teacher Guy Meogrossi, 30, is behind bars for at least a week after allegedly being caught filming up the skirts of his young students.
Police attended Spring Farm Public School in Sydney’s far south-west on Monday after a student allegedly caught the teacher in the act of filming up the skirts of female students at the school.
“Officers attached to Camden Police Area Command were told a man, aged 30, had used his phone to make recordings of students,” a statement from NSW Police said, adding that “inquiries are ongoing”.
The female witness to the alleged incident informed another teacher at the school, who alerted the principal.
Mr Meogrossi was taken to Narellan police station and was charged with one count of film a person’s private parts without consent, as well as one aggravated count of film a person’s private parts without consent and producing child abuse material.
The teacher was refused bail and will appear in Campbelltown Local Court next week.
Counselling has been made available
Spring Farm Public School opened in 2016, has more than 800 students, and is described on the Department of Education’s website as a “new and contemporary school in the middle of a rapidly growing housing estate near Camden”.
A spokesperson from the NSW Department of Education said it is working closely with police confirmed Mr Meogrossi had been removed from teaching duties.
“Support and counselling services are available for students and staff members,” the spokesperson said.
“The safety of students is always our number one priority,”
