More than 100,000 Queenslanders have taken advantage of the Federal Government’s Free TAFE program, with early childhood education and care (ECEC) courses amongst the most popular.
The latest data reveals there were more than 109,000 enrolments across the sunshine state between January 2023 and September 2024. More than 6,300 students taking up the vocational training opportunities were enrolled in ECEC. Other courses that proved popular included construction, care, and manufacturing, with technology and digital sector courses also attracting plenty of student interest.
The free TAFE program means that a student wishing to study a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care can save up to $955.
Federal Minister for Skills and Training Andrew Giles says he has heard many Queensland TAFE students tell him the ability to access the program is “a life-changer”.
